The Monte Baldo flight has two characteristics: the possibility to take off from West and East.
Taking off from the Western side you will arrive on the upright of the lake over 100 m of elevation admiring all lake Garda. This characteristic allows an extremely safe flight, that’s why a lot of schools organize SIV (inconvenience flights simulation) courses, and international pilots execute tests and DHV homologation for new kites.
Safety is guaranted by wearing an obligatory life jacket and the paragliding-club motorboat is available in case of a water rescue.
In the afternoon on the Western side it’s possible to fly roundtrip towards South within 30 / 40 Km. To take off on the Eastern side has the same characteristic as taking off from the Western side, but has a better thermal which allows to fly great distances in all directions:
SOUTH: Monte Baldo - Monte Belpo - Malcesine, 40 km.
WEST: M. Baldo - Pinzolo, 60 km.
EAST: M. Baldo - Bassano, 80 km.
NORTH: M. Baldo - Val Daora, 160 km.
LANDING AREA:
While flying the landing area is very visible, located 2 km north Malcesine. In a typical day the landing conditions are north wind in the morning dropping down around 11:00 AM and changing to a South wind (ora) that can reach 20/25 km/h until 18:00 PM where it will drop. Malcesine paragliding club suggest to all pilots to check out the landing area and to contact Claudio at the Hotel Ideal via Gardesana 228 to receive the obligatory life-jacket and to have more information about the flight and weather condition before they procede to the cable-car.

It is big and easy, reachable from Malcesine with the cable-car, it’s possible to take off from East and West.

In the summer time there is often a strong wind.
Flight license, insurance and life-jacket are necessary.
