The olive land. Olive growing according to tradition.

Our oil.
Malcesine is proud of its precious olive oil, produced from olive groves cultivate in an oasis, situated between the foggy Po Valley and the eternal glaciers of the Alps. The termal action produced by the waters of the lake has made it possible to cultivate olives since the earliest of the Roman, and perhaps the Etruscan colonists.
Malcesine oil has unique und unrepeatable characteristics thanks to the Casaliva variety from which it is obtained, the fresh climate and the type of olive cultivation terrain, not to mention their centuries' old age.
This is oil with a very low acidity, with a perfume of a lighty fruity sweet almond flavor, an intense golden-green aolour and distinguished by its high chlorophyll content. Since 1997 the D.O.P. (Denominazione di origine protetta), known as "Garda" further guarantees its origin and refined, superior organoleptic characteristics.
In addition to being a delicate and light dressing to use on salads and vegetables, pasta, soups, meat and fish, or simply on bread alone, olive oil must also be taken into consideration for its universally recognised properties as a veritable medicine. Regular consumption of olive oil is extremely benefical to the human organism and attenuates the effects produced by the action of free radicals and reduces the percentage of so-called "bad" cholesterol I.d.I..

The Malcesine olive growers consortium.
Founded in 1946, the society consists of about 550 members, all small olive producers and, by statute, all owners of olive farms in the municipality of Malcesine. The policy of the Consortium has always been to work only with the olives of its members and to only sell the oil it produces.
On average, the annual olive production is in region of 400.000 kilograms. Half the 70-80.000 kilograms of oil produced is destined for personal consumption with the rest being available only at the Consortium's points of sale.
